Celtic may be handed a Champions League lifeline after UEFA opened an investigation into claims that Legia Warsaw fielded an ineligible player in last night's 2-0 defeat at Murrayfield.
Bartosz Bereszynski, a substitute who came on three minutes from time, was carrying over a suspension from last season, but had not been registered for the previous round against St Pats.
Celtic benefited from a similar situation in 2011, when Sion were ejected from the Europa League after being found to have fielded five ineligible players.
