Celtic secured the first part of a possible domestic treble after beating Aberdeen 3-0 in the Betfred League Cup final at Hampden Park earlier today.

The Glasgow giants dominated from the outset and goals from Tom Rogic, James Forrest and Moussa Dembele gave manager Brendan Rodgers his first piece of silver with his new club.

The victory also gave Celtic their 100th major trophy in their history.

Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland after the match, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: "I’m absolutely delighted for the players, supporters and staff. It’s something tangible to show for the quality of their work."

"I thought, in a cup final, the level of control and quality of our football was very, very good."

"At times, we gave it away loosely and they were a threat, but we could counter that. I thought tactically, we were very good, pressed the game really hard and kept another clean sheet," he added.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes was gracious in defeat admitting his team were outplayed by a stronger side. Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland he said: "We were beaten by a better team – I don’t think there’s any disgrace getting beaten by that Celtic team, I think they’re a good side, and for us, it’s all about learning and hoping we get back here."
