UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has slammed those involved in the formation of the Super League and reaffirmed that players will be banned for playing in the Super League.

A breakaway cabal of 12 sides - six from England, and three each from Spain and Italy - have signaled their intention to form a rebel competition from UEFA, but have left the door open to three more teams, believed to be the French and German big-hitters.

However Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund's as well as PSG have all expressed their desire to reject any offers made to them to join the league.

Speaking to media on Monday, Ceferin strongly condemned "disgraceful" proposals the new league.

"I cannot stress more strongly UEFA and the footballing world are united against the disgraceful, self-serving proposals we have seen, fuelled purely by greed," Ceferin said. "It’s a nonsense of a project.

"This idea is a spit in the face for all footballer lovers and our society. We will not allow them to take this away from us."

Ceferin also stressed players should be banned from playing in the European Championship and World Cup, despite not having the backing from FIFA at this point.

Ceferin then focused his attention on the organisers of the Super League, suggesting that there are 'snakes in the grass'.

"Ed Woodward called me last Thursday evening saying that he was very satisfied with, and fully supported, the reforms [for the Champions League]," Ceferin said.

"The only thing he wanted to talk about was [Financial Fair Play], when obviously he had already signed something else."

Woodward was appointed onto UEFA's Professional Football Strategy Council as an ECA representative in September 2017, and was part of the committee looking at reforming the Champions League. He has since stepped down from his UEFA positions.

Ceferin said that the now former President of the European Clubs Association (ECA) Andrea Agnelli is 'the biggest disappointment of all', as Agnelli stepped down from his position on Monday.

"I have never seen a person that would lie so many times, so persistently," Ceferin said. "It is unbelievable.

"We didn't know we had snakes so close to us. Now we know.

"How can you see all your fans protesting and you don't care? You are full of money anyway, but you want more and more and more. I've had enough that football clubs are assets - they are part of our history."
