Spanish pair Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata have quite alot in common. They are both from Northern Spain and both  started their youth careers at Real Oviedo in Asturias. Both are on the periphery of one of the best international side of all time and the duo are the attacking midfielders of choice for their respective London clubs.

Mata has had the benefit of a full season at Chelsea and he has well truly and adapted, becoming an indispensable starter for the Blues.

Cazorla only moved to Arsenal from Malaga over the summer but he quickly became a fan's favourite. However he has  begun to show signs of fatigue this season.

So how do the duo compare?

Goals

Juan and Santi have scored seven goals apiece in the league this season, but it is the Chelsea man who is more accurate in front of goal. Mata has a shooting accuracy rate of 60.7 per cent while, Cazorla is further back at 52.3 per cent.

Creativity

Both players are creative hubs for their clubs but Mata has the edge when it comes to efficiency. Mata has created 52 chances, with Cazorla one further back.

Cazorla is a better passer, with a overall passing accuracy rate of 87.6 per cent, with an impressive 81 per cent in the opposition half. Conversly Mata's passing accuracy is at 85.8 per cent, but this drops to 75.1 per cent in the opposition half - although Fernando Torres' movement (or lack of it) could explain that.

The Gunner is also a better crosser of the ball, with 21.2 per cent of his balls into the box finding their target, while Mata's rate is only at 15.6 per cent.

But when it comes to end prodcut, Mata has eight assists to the Arsenal man's five, which is a microcosm of the differences between Chelsea and Arsenal.

With Cazorla suffering and in his first season in England, perhaps next season will give us a better idea of where Mata and Cazorla stand in comparison.
