Al-Sadd have now confirmed that Cazorla has reached an agreement to join them.

The Doha-based team are currently managed by World Cup winner and former Barcelona midfielder Xavi.

Cazorla rejoined Villarreal from Arsenal in the summer 2018 and rediscovered his best form despite missing almost two years with the Gunners due to injury.

The Spaniard had to undergo several surgeries on an Achilles injury and at one stage the problem was so bad, it almost led to his foot being amputated.

He scored 15 goals this season, which led to him getting recalled to the international team.

Arsenal paid tribute to their former player after his final appearance for Villarreal.
