Tyrone’s Sean Cavanagh scored a dramatic last second free in the driving rain of Omagh this afternoon to save Tyrone from defeat against Down in the Ulster championship.

Cavanagh’s point thwarted what would have been an incredible comeback win for Down, who had wiped out an 8 point deficit to lead by 1 point in time added on.

Tyrone were on course to win, leading 2-9 to 1-5, midway through the secone half. Donal O;Hare and Conor Maginn scored the goals that brought Down back into the match and it took Cavanagh’s last minute high pressure kick to level matters at 3-08 to 2-11.
