Irish MMA fighter Cathal Pendred reckons it will be a big mistake if Chad Mendes spends too much time trying to look for errors made by Conor McGregor in previous fights.

Pendred is on the McGregor undercard in Las Vegas on Saturday night at UFC 189, and as he spoke to Off The Ball about the risks of over-analysing an opponent, he touched on his SBG Gym team-mate's next challenger, Mendes, who has been keeping a close eye on McGregor.

"Conor might not watch his opponent's fights but I can guarantee you he watches his fights more than anyone else's. He breaks them down, he looks for weaknesses, he's looking for mistakes he's made and he's corrected them. So, it's a big mistake for Mendes to look back at any fights and look for mistakes Conor's made and then expect him to make them again. That's a massive mistake on Chad Mendes' part," he said. 

Pendred also gave us an insight into his preparations into the fight with the weigh-in in mind, and assessed his next opponent John Howard.
