Gerard Deulofeu's second spell at Everton is improving with every game.

The 21-year-old rejoined the side last summer on a permanent basis after impressing during a loan spell in the 2013-14 season from Barcelona. The Spaniard has already scored three goals this season, but it is his general play that is exciting the Everton fans.

In last night's League Cup quarter final, Deulofeu impressed as Everton defeated Middlesbrough 2-0 at the Riverside Stadium. He scored the first goal, weaving his way through the Championship sides defence.

He was instrumental in Everton's second goal and reminded many observers of Cristiano Ronaldo. The former Barcelona graduate performed at least seven step overs in quick succession to beat Fernando Amorebieta. From the resulting cross, Romelu Lukaku found the back of the net, to double Everton's lead.

Everton will hope Deulofeu continues to impress but will be wary of him interesting Barcelona once more. The Catalan club have a clause in the contract that can see them buy back Deulofeu for €9million at the end of the season.
