Cork dual player Eoin Cadogan has warned of the dangers of the new black card system.

The new rules came into force on January 1st and sees any player black carded for cynical play sent off for the rest of the game although a replacement is allowed for the first three cards issued.

The 27-year-old said simulation from forwards could get backs in trouble with referees.

He told Newstalk's Oisin Langan: "As a young guy, you're always told 'hand on' - not pulling or dragging - but you know where your opponent is. If your opponent starts throwing himself on the ground and feigning injury, who's going to get the black card? Is it the attacking forward for feigning injury or is it the defender who's going to suffer? It's going to be very unfair on the referees to distinguish who deserves what."

His sentiments were echoed by ex-Armagh forward Oisin McConville's views on the subject when he spoke to Off The Ball about the black card issue last night.

In the interview with Oisin, Cadogan also discussed dual status.
