Burt Reynolds has been admitted to intensive care for treatment for severe flu and dehydration.

The 76-year-old, who is famous for roles in Boogie Nights, Smokey and the Bandit and Deliverance, was rushed to a Florida hospital after falling ill.

A representative for Reynolds's representative said the star was "severely dehydrated" when he was admitted to hospital.
