Ireland’s Fionnuala Britton has finished fourth at the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, surrendering her title missing out on what would have been a record hat-trick of gold medals.
Sophie Duarte of France won the gold medal, while Britain’s Gemma Steele took silver and bronze went to Portugal’s Dulce Felix. Britton finished just four seconds behind Felix.
Earlier today the Irish Men's U23 Team finished in fourth place. Great Britain won, with the Ukraine second and France third.
In the Junior Men's 6k race, Sean Tobin finished in 9th place.
