Dublin almost pulled off one of the shocks of the summer but ultimately serial All Ireland champions Kilkenny were able to reel them in and snatch a draw.
Cats boss Brian Cody admitted his side had got away with it when I spoke to him after the 0-17 to 1-14 game.
"Obviously we escaped with a draw. We got the equalising point with basically the last puck of the game and we're very relieved to do so," he admitted.
Kilkenny struggled with the wind in the first half but once they took the lead in the second 35, they were unable to pull away from the Dubs as would have been expected. Cody said the reasons behind the second half performance was unclear.
"I don't have a definite answer to that question. Certainly Dublin got a good grip of the game in the second half and they held possession very well, combined very well and caused us a lot of trouble," he said.
