Off the Ball understands Stephen Kenny has left his role with Dundalk with immediate effect to take over as Republic of Ireland Under-21 manager.
He is expected to take over as manager of the senior team after Euro 2020.
Mick McCarthy will be named as the replacement for Martin O'Neill at a press conference tomorrow and Kenny will be unveiled on Monday, according to our sources.
It appears the FAI have been quick to act after coming to terms with O'Neill's management team to leave their roles during the week, after a dismal Nations League campaign.
The draw the Euro 2020 qualifiers is due to take place in Dublin on 2nd December.
