The likes of Neymar, Thiago Silva and David Luiz all thought they had scored for Brazil, only for the Mexican keeper to pull off a string of superb saves.
Both sides are now on four points at the top of Group A with Brazil leading on goal difference.
Group rivals Croatia and Cameroon play tomorrow.
