Bohemians say they are sorry to see manager Arron Callaghan leave the club but change was needed following a poor run of results.

Owen Heary will take charge in a caretaker capacity while the club assess their options.

Callaghan left yesterday with the Gypies second from bottom in the Airtricity league Premier division .

The club released the following statement on the matter

Bohemian FC announces the departure of manager Aaron Callaghan, following discussions and agreement with the board of directors.
 
"The club has reached this stage with much regret," said Bohemian president Matt Devaney. "Aaron has made a great contribution to all facets of Bohemians in his 18 months with us.
 
"But following a run of disappointing results it was clear some change was needed. We are looking for an injection of new ideas and new urgency."
 
Assistant manager Owen Heary will assume the responsibility of caretaker manager with immediate effect.
