Bohemians have completed the signing of Sheffield United winger Stephen Mallon.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international spent last season on loan at Derry City where he made 14 SSE Airtricity Premier Division appearances.

The first of his two league goals for Derry came in a 2-0 win over his new employers at the Ryan McBride Brandywell last February.

Mallon joins the likes of Ali Coote, Tyreke Wilson and Georgie Kelly as a new arrival to the Gypsies.

Bohs are also believed to be leading the race to sign Bastien Hery from Linfield.

The Madagascar international midfielder had spells at both Limerick and Waterford prior to his move to Belfast.

St. Patrick's Athletic had been believed to be leading the chase to sign Hery, but Dalymount now appears his most likely destination.

Having seen both Kris Twardek and Danny Grant leave Bohemians in recent months, manager Keith Long is delighted with the signing of Mallon.

"In Stephen, we have an exciting winger who will give us options on both wings – be it on his natural side on the left or as a reverse winger on the right," Long said.

“He is young, hungry to prove himself, and this is a big season for him. He knows the league having been on loan at Derry last season and I believe he will prove to be a key signing for us.”

Bohemians squad 2021:

Goalkeepers: James Talbot, Stephen McGuinness.

Defenders: Anto Breslin, Ciarán Kelly, James Finnerty, Rob Cornwall, Rory Feely, Tyreke Wilson.

Midfielders: Ali Coote, Conor Levingston, Dawson Devoy, Jack Moylan, Keith Buckley, Keith Ward, Promise Omochere, Ross Tierney, Stephen Mallon.

Strikers: Georgie Kelly, Thomas Oluwa.

Duff departs, Celtic’s Dubai disaster, Six Nations go-ahead & Premier League cancellations
