Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says he doesn't expect to be active in the January transfer window – especially as the costly players the Reds brought in last summer have started to perform.

Not all of Rodgers’ 2014 outlays are bearing fruit but Adam Lallana (£25M), Emre Can (£9.75M) Lazar Markovic (£20M) and Alberto Moreno (£12M) have all begun to find their form at Anfield after modest returns during their initials months.

“There won’t be much (transfer) activity for us in January,” said the Ulsterman, whose side host Leicester this afternoon. “We brought in a lot of players, that we feel can develop, over the summer. Those players are now starting to adapt to the life here at Liverpool and our way of working.”

“My job is to coach and manage the players that are here,” Rodgers added, “and work hard at maximising that talent that they have, so that’s what we’ll look to do.”

Star forward Daniel Sturridge is also expected to return later this month. “Hopefully at some point in January – middle to end – he’ll be available to play,” said Rodgers.

The Ulsterman also referenced misfit striker Mario Balotelli – “he’s a player that still has a contribution fto make for us.” – and insisted the Reds “are fine” in defence despite missing the suspended Martin Skrtel today.
