Premier League side Aston Villa have been forced to cancel their October goal of the month competition because there wasn’t a single goal to judge.
The Birmingham club, languishing in 16th place in the league, went five consecutive matches and 547 minutes of football without netting a goal until Andreas Weimann ended the drought with a first half strike against Tottenham on Sunday.
Unfortunately, the Austrian’s goal came on the second day of November after an October that saw Paul Lambert’s charges go down 2-0 to Manchester City, 3-0 to Everton and 2-0 to Queen’s Park Rangers. They also failed to find the net in their last two matches of September.
