Manchester United have confirmed that Ashley Young is facing a spell on the sidelines because of a shoulder injury.

United manger David Moyes has revealed that the winger injured his shoulder in the controversial challenge by Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris on New Year's Day, which sparked a penalty row.

The Reds were not awarded a penalty following the incident (pictured) in the 2 - 1 defeat to Spurs at Old Trafford.

Moyes says he is unsure as yet how long Young will be out of action for.

"Ashley has got an injury that is going to keep him out for a time," he confirmed.
