Arsene Wenger believes his Arsenal side got very close to perfection in the first half of their 3-0 victory over Chelsea.

The Gunners made light work of their London rivals with all three goals coming in that opening 45 minutes.

The first two goals from Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott were scored within the first quarter hour, before Mesut Ozil applied the third and killer goal five minutes before the break.

Arsenal were in control of that first half against a flat Chelsea side and Wenger was impressed by what his team offered at the Emirates.

"It's one of these moment in your life as a manager where you think today is a great day and in the first half I think it was nearly perfect," he said on the week of the 20th anniversary of the first day he took charge of the club.

The 3-0 win keeps Arsenal in the chasing pack behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Next time out, Arsenal will be in Champions League action as they look to follow up their 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain in their group opener with a positive result at home to FC Basel on Wednesday.
