Alexis Sanchez scored twice as in-form Arsenal breezed past Hull City at the KC Stadium.

The 3-1 win puts the Gunners level on points with second placed Manchester City, with the added benefit of a game in hand.

Sanchez opened the scoring with a deflected free-kick before the half hour mark, before Aaron Ramsey's deflected shot looped past Steve Harper to double the lead.

Ramsey then turned provider for Arsene Wenger's side at the stroke of half-time to make it 3-0 as he played in Sanchez to round the keeper and fire into an empty net.

Hull did pull one back through a header from Ireland midfielder Stephen Quinn in the second half but it was too little too late as Arsenal ran out easy winners to edge closer to an automatic Champions League spot after stretching the gap to Manchester United to five points with a game in hand.

Jack Wilshere also marked his return to first team action for the Gunners, coming on as a second half substitute in place of Ramsey.

Meanwhile, Hull are just one point above the relegation zone. Third from bottom Sunderland also have a game in hand on the Tigers.
