Lille manager Rene Girard claims Arsenal's defeat to fellow French side Monaco proves that the Premier League is "s***".

The Gunners suffered a humiliating 3-1 loss to the Ligue 1 side on Wednesday in the Champions League, despite being heavy favourites to progress to the quarter-finals.

"To those who say our league is s*** it [Monaco's win over Arsenal] proves there’s perhaps shit elsewhere as well," Girard told journalists today.

It was a point echoed more eloquently by John Giles on Off The Ball last night, as he suggested that the Premier League was "not the best quality":
