The Anchorman 2 producer has been good friends with Paul for several years.

And Judd's friendship with the star of Marvel's forthcoming film Ant-Man has granted him exclusive behind the scenes access to an otherwise classified superhero costume.

"I've already seen [Paul suited up as Ant-Man] in our personal lives together, but I'm super excited for him," Judd told MTV News.

Paul has starred in several of the films Judd directed, including comedic hits like This Is 40 and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Judd has complete confidence in Paul's acting ability and he believes the thespian will put on a stellar performance in Ant-Man, which is due for release in 2015.

"There's nothing more fun than being allowed into that Marvel world and to see Paul kick a**. I'm ready. It's about time," Judd gushed.

"He's always been a superhero of my life and work, so it's not unexpected."

Paul portrayed the husband of Judd's real-life wife Leslie Mann in This Is 40.

But apparently Judd didn't get upset when Paul kissed Leslie in certain scenes.

"It's not really that awkward. I mean, it's awkward in the sense that it's always awkward just making out with anybody in a film. The fact that he's there, maybe what's weird is that it isn't as weird as it should be," he quipped in an interview with Shortlist.

"But we've done it before, we know each other and Judd has been very vocal about the fact that he feels absolutely nothing he should, any sort of threat from me. And thankfully, all of the scenes where we are kissing or seem somewhat intimate, are always funny and always go wrong. And so because of that there's an inherent silliness behind it. We don't have a real serious, well maybe apart from the scene in the hotel, where we're genuinely connecting," he laughed.
