Munster head coach Anthony Foley looks set to stay in charge of the province for a third season, according to reports.

Foley signed a two-year deal in the summer of 2014, with the option of a third year and according to The Irish Times, the province are to take up that option.

The 42-year-old played for Munster from 1995 to 2008 and was the first player to make 200 appearances for the province. He captained the side to their first Heineken Cup title in 2006 when Declan Kidney's side defeated Biarritz in Cardiff.

Foley guided the side last year to the Pro12 Final, where they were defeated by Glasgow in Belfast. His side have struggled to impress in Europe. Losses to Clermont Auvergne and Saracens meant that the team failed to reach the knock out stages last season.

They currently lie in third place in the Pro12 after back-to-back losses to Connacht and the Newport-Gwent Dragons. The team also lost last weekend to Leicester in the Champions Cup in Limerick. They travel to Leicester this weekend, needing to beat the Tigers to keep their European hopes alive.

Despite the recent results, it looks like Munster have confidence in Foley to lead them back to the glory days.
