Annalise Murphy has won gold for the second time this month. Murphy took gold at the Delta Lloyd Regatta, in Medemblik, Netherlands earlier today. It comes shortly after she won gold at the Italian Olympic week.
Murphy began the rac in second place, two points behind Alison Young of Great Britain, and London 2012 silver emdalist Marit Mouwemester of Netherlands. Lijia Xu, gold medallist at the 2012 Olympic games, was also in the race, but finished sixth.
After the race Murphy said ‘ I got so far ahead I didn’t have to worry. I had a good week and am happy with my performance.’
ISA Performance Director James O’Callaghan preasied the win, focusing on the tough field Murphy competed against on the way to her win.
“It was very tight on points and to come through such a close competition in a strong Olympic field will give Annalise great confidence,” he said.
