Former Mayo manager James Horan believes Tyrone need to go for more goals as the All-Ireland football championship reaches its most challenging phase.

Mickey Harte's side take on Monaghan in an All-Ireland quarter-final, which will be live on Off The Ball this afternoon, and Horan focused on an aspect of their victory over Sligo in the qualifiers.

"We saw against Sligo, [Tyrone] dominating the game. But one thing that jumped out was their lack of going for goals," he told Off The Ball.

"It wasn't that there weren't credible goal chances but it was like a decision was not to go for them and keep taking your points.

"It's certainly something, as the games get bigger and tighter, that if there are goal chances, you really need to go for the jugular. I saw Mickey Harte and Sean Cavanagh coming out and even saying that themselves during the week, so if Tyrone can add a couple of goals to what they're doing, then they're going to be a tough encounter."
