Ireland's Dan Martin has once again had to settle for the second step of the podium after today's 11th Stage of the Tour de France.

The Cannondale-Garmin rider was awarded the prize for the most aggressive rider of the day (also known as the combativity award) as he finished a minute behind stage winner, Poland's Rafal Majka.

Martin first had to bridge a six-minute gap to get into the break-away group and then led the leaders over the infamous Col d'Aspin.

However, Majka made the decisive move of the day when he broke clear on the climb up the infamous Col du Tourmalet and then held off the challenge of Martin to claim the stage victory.

Team Sky's Chris Froome remains in the race leader's yellow jersey.
