Green jackets from the Augusta National Golf Club are very rarely seen in public. You have to be a member of the club, or win the Masters to own one.
Only Masters winners are allowed to take their Green Jacket outside the club's gates for a year and must return it to their locker when they return the following April. When a jacket ended up in a thrift store in Texas, the owners knew they had their hands on something special.
The jacket, which entered the store in December was sold to a garage owner from Pennsylvania. Green jackets rarely enter the public marketplace, but when they do, they can make a lot of money.
A jacket that was worn by Horton Smith, the first winner of The Masters, sold for over $700,000 in 2013.
