Tipperary star John 'Bubbles' O'Dwyer got his hands on his first All-Ireland winning medal on Sunday as the Premier County overcame rivals Kilkenny at Croke Park.

And victory was even sweeter for the player.

Taking to Twitter this morning, the Killenaule clubman thanked supporters but also had a message for those who had gone over the top wither their criticism.

As well as apologising for swearing during his TV interview immediately after the match, O'Dwyer noted that he had to deal with his fair share of criticism as well.

Speaking in the wake of the win, in which he put in a stunning performance alongside Seamus Callanan to lead the Premier County to a win over Brian Cody's Kilkenny, Bubbles noted that he had been fueled by some comments that had been sent to him earlier this year.

"I had my doubters at the start of the year," said O'Dwyer. "I think I’m after proving my doubters wrong here now."

Adding to that on Twitter, he stated that he received abusive mail from some people, and who were now "very quiet" as the Liam MacCarthy Cup started its journey to Tipperary on Monday morning.
