Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says he thinks Gary Neville will "do well" as Valencia head coach.

Sir Alex describes him as a strong leader who is not afraid of making big decisions when he spoke to Sky Sports News.

Neville's brother Phil is already on the club's staff, having taken over as a coach there in the summer.

Their first match in charge will be at home to Lyon in the Champions League next week.

"Gary has many attributes that suggest he will be successful in management. His leadership skills are strong, he's honest and he's hard working," said Ferguson.

"He is the type of character who is not afraid of making big decisions, which is a vital skill when leading. I think he'll do well and I wish him, and his brother Phil, good luck."
