Despite talks of a U-turn last week, Marty Moore's move to Wasps from Leinster is going ahead and former Munster and Ireland back-row Alan Quinlan believes the "intervention was too late".

Joe Schmidt was among those to have stepped in as reported last week in an attempt to keep the prop in Ireland but ultimately any efforts have officially failed. 

"I think it was too late," said Quinlan, who was joined by The Irish Times' Gavin Cummiskey on Off The Ball.

"There was a heads of agreement signed a couple of weeks ago and the intervention was too late. There was a time when heads of agreement didn't really matter but now they're putting a lot of emphasis and they're legally drawn up."

Cummiskey that the way the move to Wasps stalled for a time may have suggested that Moore "didn't really want to go".

As for his international future, Quinlan feels a move abroad "shouldn't rule him out" of contention for future squads and thinks "he will do well", although he feels staying injury free is "key".

Quinlan and Cummiskey also talked about the head knock suffered by Jonathan Sexton, which Leinster clarified this morning, while they also discussed the out-halves propensity to tackle his opponents high.
