The first international encounter between Ireland and England in over 18 years is just hours away now, and the past few days have been filled with memories of that ill-fated game in 1995.
Alan McLoughlin was a member of the Irish side at Lansdowne Road that night, a night he says “was set up to be a disaster” from the start, with poor planning and policing set to be exploited by a violent English crowd.
McLoughlin told Oisin Langan his memories of the night, and how important it is for the players to play in games between Ireland and England.
