Armagh assistant manager Aidan O’Rourke has leapt to the defence of county manager Kieran McGeeney amid criticism after the Ulster championship defeat to Cavan.

After the defeat, a huge amount of focus has been put on McGeeney and his approach, with ex-Armagh manager Paul Grimley hitting back at criticisms made by pundit Joe Brolly.

O'Rourke joined Off The Ball to discuss the fallout from the match and spoke about what it's like to work with the senior boss.

"Kieran's his own man and has his own style but if you think for one minute that Kieran is militant and straight-jacketed, then you have the man wrong," he said.

"We would frequently have discussions around game-plan and that type of thing. Kieran as a coach and manager is completely different to Kieran as a player and I've been lucky enough to be involved with him closely in both aspects of his career, so all you can do is get on with what's happening. If you speak to players who've played under him, you'll get the right perception I'm sure."
