With our own winter fading into the past and the glorious sunshine sweeping across the country, the days until we can pull down the blinds and turn on the TV to watch the fifth season of Game of Thrones are counting down.
In celebration of the violence and carnage that awaits, two graphic designers from The Washington Post have cobbled together an infographic that gleefully illustrates all 456 deaths that have taken place in Westeros thus far.

Collected under the title Valar Morghulis, the ‘High Valyrian’ phrase for ‘All men must die’, it’s a brutal and bloody trip down memory lane, giving fans of the HBO fantasy epic a gentle reminder of who died by whose hands over the last four seasons. Every single death is documented with all the anorak stats you’d ever want to know: who killed them; how it happened; where it took place; the way in which it happened; and the reason why someone stabbed them in the back (figuratively and literally).
The Post’s data journalists also break down the deadliest season, locations and most bloodthirsty killers so far. You can rifle through the guide here, but bear in mind that spoilers abound.
