Declan Bonner will be forever remembered in Donegal for his part in the 1992 All-Ireland Final.

The corner-forward scored his counties' final point as the Ulster champions defeated Dublin by four points to win their first All-Ireland.

Despite having recently managed the Donegal minor team, Bonner came out of retirement to help his club in their hour of need. Na Rossa were due to play St. Mary's, Convoy in a Junior A Championship, but did not have enough players to field a team.

According to the Donegal Sports Hub, Bonner played in goals, and kept a clean sheet. Despite Bonner's heroics, the team lost by a single point.

"I haven't played in three years now, but I enjoyed it", Bonner admitted.

"We should have won the game. We missed a rake of chances. We'd thought on Friday about actually forfeiting the game, but we scraped together a team and got men resurrected!"

Although it's heartening to see Bonner take to the field, after last playing in 2013, his stint in goals shows how difficult it is for clubs to field teams during the summer months.
