Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says the Anfield side are not 24 points worse than Manchester United following their 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford yesterday.
The Reds lie eight in the table following yesterday’s loss and for most of the first half did appear to be a team playing at a different, lower, level than their rivals. A second half resurgence, however, saw Rodgers’ side take the game to United and come close on a couple of occasions to drawing level.
Newstalk’s Oisin Langan spoke to former Liverpool Captain Phil Thompson on whether or not there is much to separate the Merseyside team from United, and how they could have got something from yesterday’s game.
Thompson also discussed the weekend’s other football news, including Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Arsenal at The Emirates yesterday afternoon.
