In this week’s budget it was announced that from next August, women aged 17 to 25-years-old will be able to access free contraception and while the plan has been largely welcomed, many have questioned whether it goes far enough.  

So just how progressive is this announcement and should it have gone further? 

Anton Savage was joined by Dr. Deirdre Lundy, GP specializing in sexual health and reproductive health and sexual health and reproductive health trainer,  Rosita Sweetman, Founding member of The Irish Women’s Liberation Movement and author of feminism backwards published last year and Sarah Madden, Newstalk reporter.
