Living with a chronic illness with Polly Atkin

Polly Atkins joins Stefanie Preissner to discuss her new book ‘Some of Us Just Fall – On Nature and Not Getting Better’ is a meditation on her lifetime living with chronic illnesses. Atkins is a multi-award-winning writer, essayist and poet. While seeking explanations for her health issues, hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and genetic hemochromatosis, she faced significant levels of sexism, manipulation, and prejudice from members of the medical field. Additionally, she encountered a considerable amount of unintentionally ineffective support from those close to her who were at a loss about how to address her ongoing state of unwellness.
