Today, February 5th, marks the anniversary of the public premiere of 'Mise Éire' which was, perhaps until the last few months, the high point of Irish language cinema and certainly one of the defining greats of Irish film.

But how Mise Éire came to be, and how it was received, also makes it one of the most fascinating moments of Irish cinema history.
