The story of Irish brewing in recent years is one of genuine success as craft breweries have quickly gained influence and grown in popularity.

But the diversity with which we are now familiar was once the standard in Ireland, at one time having 200 breweries in operation - 55 of which being based in Dublin alone.

Names like Phoenix, Sweetmans, D’arcys, and Watkins are now largely forgotten - but some would say the journey is only beginning.

To discuss the history of brewing on the island of Ireland, Gavan was joined by Donal Fallon for another episode of Hidden Histories.
