Catherine Motherway, intensive care specialist at University Hospital Limerick joined Gavan this morning on On The Record.

At the moment in UL there is a total of 13 Covid patients accounting for 24 critical care beds. Motherway noted that transplant surgery has been profoundly impacted both nationally and internationally by the pandemic.

It takes a year to train an ICU Nurse and 7 ICU Nurses are required for each bed.
