The average person spends over two hours a day and 22 days a year commuting. 

That’s according to research carried out here on Newstalk this week as part of our Commuter Hell series. 

1,230 people across the country people took part in the survey which also highlighted problems with the frequency of public transport and overcrowding and the amount of traffic on the roads. 

So we know we have a problem - what can be done about it? 

Noel Rock is Fine Gael TD for Dublin North West and Marc MacSharry TD IS Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Transport, Tourism and Sport.
