The new Central Mental Hospital is set to increase the number of available beds. While this may help relieve the number of people with a mental illness in prison or on the streets, there are concerns the system in place does not effectively treat patients anyways.

Jonathan Healy was joined by Fiona Ni Chinneide, Executive Director of the Irish Penal Reform Trust and Brendan Kelly, professor of psychiatry in Trinity College Dublin.
