Phil Hogan has today been nominated as the next EU Commissioner for Trade.

It is seen as the most important economic portfolio in the Commission, and was something that the Irish Government had been pushing hard for.

Commissioner Hogan joined Ivan on the Hard Shoulder to discuss his new job, and what his hopes are for it.  He had some strong views on the Brexit negotiations, spoke about the Mercosur deal and how it can benefit farmers, and also how he would deal with a Trump-led United States.
