He launched his political career because he thought the Republican George W Bush was too big a spender of public money. 

In 2015, he was a founder member of The Freedom Caucus, widely considered the furthest right, most fiscally conseravtive grouping within the US Congress.

Working his way right up to the White House, where he held a number of positions, namely Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff; finally serving as United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland before resigning due to the Capitol Riots.
