The environmental benefits of switching from short-haul flights to rail are limited and generate other green, social and economic costs. That’s according to a new study from a number of European aviation associations, who are calling for more balance in the debate around sustainable transport.

But are the detrimental impacts from short haul flights too much for our environment to bear?
