With more than 10,000 people homeless, the housing crisis has been rumbling on for a number of years leaving families and individuals in very uncertain circumstances.

However the government claims they are bringing thousands of homes into the social housing stock this year, both purchased and built.

As part of our Home Truths series, Ivan went out to an active site in Cherry Orchard in Dublin to meet Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government with special responsibility for Housing and Urban Development, and TD for Meath West, Damien English.

This is a development of 19 units in Cherry Orchard as part of a wider Rapid Build project that has already delivered 53 units in the estate, some of which will be occupied for the first time next week.

Take a listen as they discuss the social housing schemes, and govt's policies around affordable housing.
