Crossed legs may be a thing of the past in Ballybofey after Donegal County Council introduced a novel scheme to deal with the lack of public toilets in the town.

The local council will pay businesses to allow people who are caught short to use their facilities. Hopes are high that the scheme will catch on in other towns and cities as the scarcity of public toilets is something many people can identify with.

On the Hard Shoulder tonight, Ivan discussed this pressing topic of public conveniences with Alice Leahy, of the Alice Leahy Trust, and the Cathaoirleach of Stranorlar Municipal District, Councillor Patrick McGowan. Ivan and Alice also briefly discuss her book The Stars are Our Only Warmth.
