Talk of government formation is leading to a lot of complex arithmetic when it comes to Dáil seats.

The Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has met with both the Green party and with People Before Profit to discuss the prospect of supporting her party in government. Meanwhile, the party with the largest share of seats- albeit by only one- Fianna Fáil have been keen to distance themselves from entering government with Sinn Féin
