13,000 people in South Sligo may have contaminated water for another year

Irish Water says the upgrade of the Lough Talt water treatment plant in Sligo can now go ahead.

Planning permission to upgrade the existing water treatment plant has been granted and the government has also confirmed that funding of €10 million is now in place.

A contractor has been appointed and the work will begin in September, the building work could take twelve months though.
